LNF Adoption Application and Process
Online Adoption Application
Form Submission
- Ensure no extra spaces around email addresses in the form.
- If there's an error, clear the email field and re-enter.
Adoption Requirements
- If our guidelines aren't met/exceeded, the application will be denied.
Fence Requirement
- Mandatory 4-foot high fence.
- Some dogs may require a 6-foot wood or vinyl fence.
- We do not accept electric fences.
Delivery of Dogs
- Dogs are not shipped.
- Mandatory home visits are required & all dogs are brought home personally by their Foster Mom
- Adoption areas are limited to NJ, PA, MD, VA, and DE within a 2-hour drive from New Castle DE 19720.
Adoption Fee & Payment
- The adoption fee is $425 for dogs up to 4 years; and $300 for dogs aged 6 years.
- Extra $35 fee for travels more than an hour from New Castle DE 19720 or outside DE.
- Payment methods include Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, or credit cards.
Additional Requirements and FAQs
- Current dog vet references are required.
- Previous experience is required to adopt puppies aged 2-11 months.
- Age restrictions: No adoption of puppies/young dogs to Seniors, we like to encourage Seniors to adopt more mature dogs (2-3 years old) rather than puppies since they are so much more vulnerable in shelters.
- Case-by-case adoption to families with children; specific conditions apply.
- Minimum age for adoption: 25 years.
- Adopters must be homeowners; no renters or active-duty military personnel.
- Experience as a dog parent is required; some exceptions for first-timers.
- Dogs are to be adopted as house pets, not for work.
- Dogs must always be leashed, except in secure areas.
- Recommendations for pet-sitting and dog training services are available.
- Dog Babysitting service is available at $30 a day for vacationing adopters.
LNF Dog Rescue also provides a service for our adoptive families in that when you go on vacation our dogs can stay here with us. I do charge $30 a day. They are always happy to see Aunt Marleen so you can enjoy yourself guilt-free! - LnF Dog Rescue reserves the right to deny or void applications.
All dogs MUST be kept on a leash at all times except in a secured fenced yard or fenced in a secure location. This is for the safety of the dog -- as well as to comply with laws against unleashed dogs.
We can recommend pet-sitting companies & dog trainers that we trust to provide professional care for dogs, such as dog walkers or doggie daycare while their parents are at work.
