A message from the founder –

Recently I’ve started to see a real light at the end of the tunnel. We’ve been attending adoption events & people are showing up like the “old days.”  This month we had 4 qualified adoption applications --- just like we used to! For years we’ve been lucky to get (1) dog home a month.

I just wanted to say that many times over the last four years, since 10-08 when “The Great Recession” hit this country and all rescues & shelters, I wondered if we could survive. If it hadn’t been for loans, depleting a personal retirement fund & continued financial support from you & large donations from our greatest sponsor’s The Loveland’s, LnF would have closed our doors years ago. Approximately 100 + of our great dogs & puppies would not be alive today if that had happened.

I’m so very grateful LnF survived as we head into our 9th year. I believe we have so much more to accomplish together. I’m most proud of our low/no cost “de-SEX in the City” spay/neuter program that has kept over 500 puppies & kittens from being born all over the country, not just Delaware. There is no greater gift a rescuer can give to help animals to keep them from being born to die.

I thank each of you our cherished adopters, friends & supporters for allowing us to do what LOVE to do. If I say so myself, what we do so well, and that is to save wonderful pups & dogs & put them in the kind of loving homes they deserve.

We will never participate in the HSUS Spay Day Photo Contest again, but rather start our own Spay/Neuter Photo Contest. We will be contacting you soon about our Photo Contest to raise funds this year which will be start the week of 2-26-2013. I think you’ll love the idea we’ve come up with. To give you a hint of what’s to come!

My best,
