Sheila's Story
Sheila is a 1 year old female Aussie Mix, as shown by her beautiful markings.   The shelter we are receiving her from has determined that Sheila has a broken leg - it is her right rear leg.  The shelter's veterinarian believes that the break is a months old.  The veterinarian said the right-rear leg bone has been broken and "slid" down the leg bone and has begun to fuse in another section of the leg.  So although now Sheila's leg is healing on its own, it is healing incorrectly, resulting in her right-rear leg being about 4" shorter than her other rear leg.  Sheila has had reconstructive surgery on her rear-right leg.  Reconstructive surgery will help her leg heal properly.

Sheila was given a bath and she is as
SO soft she feels like a rabbit!
Sheila is a very sweet girl, submissive, extremely affectionate and spends her evenings snuggling with her foster Mom. Sheila is also quite "spunky" despite her debilitating injury-she wantd to run and play and give kisses!

Conall's Story
This is dedicated to our dear Conall:
"We find beauty in the most incomprehensible places and the otherwise homely faces.
It is our gift to see beyond the dirt, terror, sadness and defeat and find the true soul that
lies within.
We are Rescue."

Lost and Found Dog Rescue decided to take Conall as well Sheila after seeing this picture of him. He was scheduled to be "put down" the morning we agreed to take him.

Conall is very sick as you can see.  Conall has tested "high positive" for Heartworm. He also has a "dead eye" and we will have to have it removed. However, due to his current physical state, his body would not be able to handle the treatment or surgery. We will have to nurture Conall for a little while and "get some meat on his bones" before we can put him through the rigorous Heartworm treatment, eye removal and neuter.

What a difference a few weeks make in a dog's life:
Conall-After

Conall is about 2 years, and as far as his breed is concerned, I can see Boxer in him, and something else. Something will large hanging jowls.  Some of the volunteers at the shelter think he may have some Mastiff in him as Conall has drooping jowls and a big face.  However, the good news is that Conall is eating
and has gained 12 pounds! Look at that belly!! This is Conall sound asleep
at his foster home 02-28-07. For a dog who has lived on the streets all his
life as he has, this is a very high honor to us that he trusts us enough
to fall asleep in that vunerable position.

Conall is an extremely grateful rescue dog who is so happy to have someone, anyone be kind to him, that he just sits in his crate and thumps his tail like crazy every time I walk in the room. He thumped his tail so hard he made the tip bleed. He is affectionate, playful and ready to please. When you talk to him he *twists* his ears up in the cutest way.

We expect Sheila and Conall to arrive late Sunday morning, February 11, 2007.  They will be taken to see Dr. Gray at Brandywine Vet in order to receive a full medical evaluation and a better understanding of the extent of their injuries and health condition.

Our wish for Sheila and Conall (as with every L&F dog) is to find them each a family of their own to love and love them back. We could use your help by sponsoring Sheila or Conall. Lost and Found Dog Rescue provides a caring and a nurturing environment until we adopt each individual dog. However, the same way it costs money to care for a healthy dog, it also costs money to provide constant and continual care, especially for a special needs dogs like Winston, Austin and Sheila.

By sponsoring a dog, you can help to alleviate our costs and allow this rescue to continue to save the dogs we do. Sponsoring a dog may take the form as a weekly or monthly donation, or you can make a one-time donation on our secure Website where we take VISA/MasterCard and PayPal. It's your choice!

Payments may also made directly with Visa/MasterCard, AMEX at Brandywine Vet Hospital in Winston's name.
The number for Brandywine Vet is:
610-459-0500.

Please inform Lost and Found Dog Rescue if you make a direct payment to Brandywine Vet so we can provide you a tax receipt for this donation as soon as possible.
