It is with great sadness that I report that beloved Patrick, the injured rescued hound from King William, VA, passed away unexpectedly yesterday.

He slipped quietly away while undergoing surgery to have his broken leg repaired, despite of all the valiant efforts made by his wonderful doctor, Dr. Brad Gray, to save him.

As quickly as Patrick came, Patrick was gone.

Yet Patrick brought SO much love to those of us who knew him. He was rescued at the eleventh-hour by Marleen Oetzel of Lost and Found Dog Rescue in New Castle. After being transported up from Virginia, he arrived at her home Saturday night; and he got to live the rest of the weekend with her.

And in those brief hours - just a day and a half - Patrick got to LIVE--to really live! He was joyful. Even with a broken leg that must have caused him so much pain, he was "happy-go-lucky" and loving to all.

Marleen said that he bestowed such sweet kisses on everyone--humans and the other dogs as well! Apparently Patrick had been kept outside all his life; now he had a Home! A real home---filled with life, and a Person - Marleen - who loved him. Patrick was blissfully content!

Before he had to leave, Patrick got to experience a home, and real love. Now when he looks down from heaven, he has a place to look down upon--his own place--and he has someone to smile down upon....all of us who loved him.

And those of us who love him know that our Love lasts forever. We are so grateful that his beautiful shining spirit touched our lives...

Thank you Patrick!! Run free sweet boy......till we meet someday.
