ADOPTED!

Trixie, now named Jagger because she dances like Mick Jagger, has been adopted! I posted her on the website, and by the next morning, I received seven applications. As always, I carefully selected the very best family for her. This family had recently lost their beloved dog and were heartbroken. Many families know that the best way to begin to heal is by saving another dog's life, and they found my tiny little lady. When I brought her home, her new mom cuddled her and carried her like a baby—the healing had begun!

Don't miss Trixie's videos below! Trixie, now known as "Tiny Dancer" because she dances on her back legs like a little circus dog, is a super sweet, affectionate, and very pretty young Papillon weighing only 8 lbs! Her little tail is always wagging—just make eye contact, and it wags like a tiny flag. There's a video below showing how she is all the time and when she played with her first toy!

Due to her small size, she is best suited for a home without young children—12 years and older only. Tiny dogs like Trixie have a lifespan of 15+ years, so we prefer to adopt her to a young family who can be with her throughout her life.

Trixie and her two siblings were rescued by a Good Samaritan in Kentucky. The lady witnessed them being abandoned on the side of the road, and their owner driving away. She pulled over and was able to catch them. She took them to the wonderful TriCounty Animal Shelter in Kentucky. If they hadn’t been so stunned at being dumped, the woman might not have been able to catch them and put them in her car. A few more minutes, and they would have run off and would not have survived the very cold weather in Kentucky.

Trixie has been professionally groomed, and we discovered she is bright white—when she arrived, she was so dirty she looked gray! She really needed a bath (she was a bit stinky!), and that’s why her ears look like she has “bed head.” They need to be trimmed, but I wanted a professional to do it rather than using scissors myself.

She loves to play with other dogs, but only those who have nice manners and don’t play rough. I'm told that when she was staying overnight in Ohio, waiting to be transported to LNF, her temporary foster mom had a cat, and Trixie was delighted to kiss and play with the cat.

If she sounds like the kind of baby girl you would like to bring into your life and home, be sure to read all our adoption requirements first. If you can meet or exceed them, you can apply on our website.

All LNF pups and dogs have been temperament tested and live in foster homes. All pups and dogs are housebroken (puppies are paper trained) and crate trained. All pups and dogs have been microchipped, tested for heartworm, Ehrlichia, and Lyme. Each dog is on heartworm medication year-round while in our care. They are up to date with rabies, distemper, parvo, and leptospirosis vaccines, and have been wormed.

Our adoption fee includes 30 days of FREE pet insurance with an option to purchase, but it's your choice. We strive to provide the best medical care available so that you are assured all our pups and dogs are healthy and up-to-date on all necessary shots, spayed or neutered by our rescue.

Adoption Requirements:

  • A minimum physical 4-foot-high fence or higher is always mandatory and must be installed. Some dogs may need a 6-foot wood or vinyl fence, and if so, it’s noted on their profile.

  • We will not consider any applications that do not have an installed fence.

  • We do not accept any type of electric fence—no exceptions.
