About Kora - Adopted! | |
|
UPDATE from Kora's new Mommy: Hi Lisa and Marleen, I thought you might like to hear a bit about Kora. She's been busy 'pacing' thoroughout the house most of the day, and at 4:32pm she finally laid down by my feet in the kitchen to take her much deserved nap! She doesn't like to be alone, so when Andrew (the 7 1/2 yr old) went out to play with friends, she decided to 'guard' Jim and lay by his feet in his office! Matthew was downstairs in the playroom at the same time, and she felt obligated to keep tabs on him as well! (She just came up to check on me!). She also plays with her rawhide and her 'bacon' bone when we sit in the living room. So many new things to explore and people to get to know. She seems to be doing great!
I purchased the Pedigree Adult dog food for her (dry), but she's only taken a handful so far. I know you said she's a bit finiky in her eating. I'm hoping she'll eat more when she feels more comfortable and/or gets really hungry! (She's also been eating her bone treats and eating the flavored rawhides, so maybe that's also why).
Jonathan gets home thursday night and we'll e-mail you a picture of Kora and the boys hopefully before Sunday.
Thanks again for everything. We're really loving her!! Sincerely, Lisa
UPDATE: Our sweet little girl Kora has been adopted. She has a new Mom & Dad who have waited to find just the right new pet ... AND she also has (3) human brothers who can't wait to play with her! What a LUCKY girl she is to have her own 'kids" to grow up with since she is only a 1 year old baby herself. We're thrilled for the family and for our dear Kora.
Our newest volunteer, Missy, gave this beautiful girl the name Kora (Greek for "maiden") because "I just have this picture of her, paw up on the fence, like a princess awaiting her knight in shining armor..."
You don't have to be a prince or princess to adopt this little girl but we hope we can find someone who will want to treat her like a Princess for the rest of her life!
Kora is a petite yellow lab mix, weighing in at just 37 pounds. Of course, she could stand to gain a couple of pounds, having been in a shelter for over a month and a half! This beautiful young girl has all of the attributes that you could ever hope for in a dog. She is very sweet, friendly, and extremely grateful to be with humans. While she thoroughly enjoys a fun romp with her dog friends, she is most happy to just be by your side, resting comforably. We have actually heard her sigh with contentment. Her personality is just so endearing that it is impossible not to fall instantly in love with her. She took an immediate shine to my 5 year old son (our official dog tester), but was not in the least bit rowdy or rough. She so obviously adores everyone that she meets, that we know that she is going to make someone's life extremely happy! Kora is a social butterfly, who loves spending time with people and dogs, alike. She has met our cats and doesn't think they are even worth bothering with.
So, she is sweet, friendly, affectionate, gets along with kids, other dogs and cats, & very calm by nature. Sounds like a perfect young girl ... and she is!
Kora is housetrained, crate trained and our vet believes that she has already been spayed, due to her telltale scar.
If you have been looking for just this sort of companion, please contact us at the e-mail on your right to request an application.
Before Kora came to stay with me, she was in a foster home with quite a few other young ladies, and this is what her former foster mom had to say: It is a squeaky toy festival here. It is such a joy to see these "shelter babies" having the fun they were entitled to. It's so wonderful to see them alive and playing..
They are also being taught basic commands and everyone has learned to SIT ... so far. Now they just all need .their own families so they can have all the individual attention they deserve. If you are interested in any of "the girls" please request an adoption application and we'll send it to you immediately.
The girls are all between 9 months to 1 1/2 years old. They all have been Heartworm, Ehrlichia, LymeAB test tested, given 1st month of Heartguard medication, Frontline Plus, Rabies, Distemper, Parvo vaccines, Intra Trac ll Kennel Cough and First De-Worming, Spayed and Micro-Chipped. They are crated trained and housebroken.
