I was at the SPCA in Georgetown, DE and this extremely handsome
approximately 2 year old boy was shaking so bad with fear that I just teared up. I see this ALL the time. It is so sad to see how terrified they are when they arrive at the shelter.
I knelt down to say "Hi" and he looked into my eyes, gave me his paw and then he gave me his head. He completely bowed to me. I crawled in the kennel with him and he scooted in between my legs put his head in my chest and hugged me. All the while shaking, quaking and trembling all over. I hugged him as long as I could and he did settle a bit.
Then I had to leave him there in that condition because we just don't have anymore room for any more dogs. We need to get a few more adopted before we can take anymore. What we really, really need is more foster homes.
When we did come back for Huggy Bear it seemed that he remembered me. He was very happy to see me. The first picture is of him and I coming outside of the shelter and again he just crawled in my lap.
This is one terrific dog! We need to find him one terrific family. He is polite, housebroken, walks well on a leash and rode home with me in the front seat of my truck.
When we arrived there were several kids out front and he started wagging his tail at them. I took him over to greet them and he crawled in the lap of a little boy. He obviously loves kids!
So, in my opinion, anyone who adopts this majestic animal will be very lucky indeed. He is sweet, gentle and so loving!
