2/19/06 Update from foster mom:
Brennan is a delight! He is so loving and playful but gentle and quiet. He loves everyone, whether you have four legs or two. He is great with my dogs and loves to cuddle with my Jack Russell Winston. He has been doing great with house training! He is so smart and has been clean in his crate since day one. We also took him for a walk on a leash and at first he didn't get the leash thing. By the end of the walk, he trotted along like one of the gang. What a good lil guy! He likes to chew soft things, like slippers and things, but is easily redirected to his toys. Speaking of which, he LOVES toys and playing fetch with them. He is willing to share them too with his dog friends. He is such an easy puppy. We will be testing him with kids soon.

Brennan is a sweet and gentle baby boy who just wants to be someone's baby. He LOVES his brother and they just hug and play all day and night. They do not have to be adopted together but we would not mind if they were to the right family.

PLEASE NOTE: NO children under 12 years old - NO exceptions for the sake of the boys. They need to be someone's baby - we do not want them in competition with the needs of real kids.

Brennen does seem to have atrophy of the back hips, they seem slender and he favors them, but he does terrific and holds that head up high when strutting on a leash. Does his darndest to keep up with the rest of the group! Flops those big front feet right along and stays with his buddies. It will be a very lucky family that gets either of these little guys.

Brennan & Braveheart may be brothers, about 8 months old, really don't know the mix. They were kept in a homemade, wooden makeshift dog box - in the dark and living in their own filth. There was a hole that opened that the food was put into. These little guys kept each other going and kept their spirits alive and waiting for rescue.

I've been asked several times "Why do you get dogs from WV. Did you get to save any from Katrina?"

My reason for saving WV and Georgetown DE dogs is because the pictures shown are normal -- rather then unusual for the area.

These were just the lucky dogs who Rosy was able to save. Rosy was able to save an extra 103 dogs last year because that is how many we brought to DE.

Without small groups like ours, she may have had to destroy those 103 dogs that we pulled. There is just so much room and people keep letting them breed and then they end up like the dogs in this picture.

We are doing a great job but we can not do this without foster homes and people who are willing to open their hearts to make room for these poor creatures.

We at at L&F thank you and so do these poor creatures!
All L&F dogs/pups are crate & potty trained, temperament tested, have been chosen for sweet, gentle dispositions, and are living in foster homes with families. They each have had the following:

SPAYED/NEUTERED

Microchipped

Tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia

On HeartGuard & Frontline Plus (as long as they are with us)

Rabies, Distemper, Parvo vaccines.

Intra Trac ll Kennel Cough

Two De-Wormings

PLEASE NOTE: Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either physical or Electric Fence IF there are children in the home.

If you need a fence for your dog, but are not permitted to have a physical fence, or chose not to, please visit our friends at Pet Stop. Mention that you saw them at our website and they have promised to send us a donation to help our rescue work.

We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily, whether it is through a family member, neighbor or petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.

We have several petsitting service companies that we can recommend:

www.homesweethomepetsit.org/ in PA & DE

www.delawarepooperscoopers.com in PA, NJ, & DE

http://www.tlcpetsitting.net/ in MD

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

Special Needs: Brennan has deformed back legs due to poor nutrition. Our vet evaluated him and believes NO surgery will be required. He will just need excellent nutrition for the rest of his life.
