This is our Lola who is a petite (under 40 pounds) pretty young girl was an owner surrender. She has the markings of a German Sheperd but her curly coat on her back matches that of our Ari and he is a Nova Scotia Duck Trolling Retriever so she may have that mix in her also.
Her family was about to take her to the SPCA. She was abused by a man so she came to me extremely fearful. Her owner admitted she had been kicked around by a man who hated her!
After just a few weeks of living in my home with my family, she is happy & joyous with me and very slowly gaining confidence with my husband - but when she first meets men she does bark. We are working with her and we have certainly seen this behavior -- too often I'm afraid --- and I'm sure we can help her learn to trust again. She is not a fear biter --- just fearful of men.
Her placement will require a special family who has experience with abused dogs and like us has experienced the blissful experience of watching them learn how to enjoy life without being wary of being kicked around ever again.
We have had her vetted and spayed and we are now accepting applications but experienced families only must apply.

We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily. This can be through a family member, neighbor, or Petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.
We abide by the Humane Association's recommendation. For ANY DOG adoption to have a relatively good chance of success, we believe a child should be 8 years old & up. We only adopt what we call our "BONA-FIDE Kid Lovers to families with children." Many dogs do not want to live with children. You should only adopt a dog who LOVES kids to be sure you are able to make a lifetime commitment to a dog.
Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either Physical or Electric Fence. The fence must be installed before we will proceed with processing an adoption application. If you need a fence for your dog, but are not permitted to have a physical fence, or chose not to, please visit our friends at Pet Stop. Mention that you saw them at our website.
