UPDATE: My beautiful, beloved, Hound George Clooney finally went home to Allentown PA. Since he had been here so long it was/is difficult for me that he is not here -- but I did my job, I found him his parents and I set him free to start his new life.
He has a new Mom & Dad, a two legged sister, and her 90 lb rescued 4 legged son Max, so, what's that make him -- Porter's Uncle? HIs new Dad is about to retire so they will have their whole lives to enjoy each other. I'm so happy for my Portie-Snorts, so why am I crying? I love him, and even though this is painful for me, fostering means I love them enough to give them up, I am willing to "take the pain" for him and all those left to rescue. Kisses & all my big man! You have been a real joy in my life!
This is one handsome hound! I call him my "George Clooney" of hounds! They do not come anymore handsome or sweet then this boy! He is a beautiful strawberry blonde color.
His name is Sir Porter because he is always a gentlemen. He is always polite to everyone he meets. He is extremely friendly, gentle, sweet, submissive, just a perfect 70 pound love muffin!
I call him "Portie-Snorts" and when I talk to him, he looks at me, he truly tries to understand what I am saying and wants to understand what I want from him. All he wants is to do is please you, love you and to be loved by you.
He is truly a very easy going dog and one of our most wonderful *stars* here at L&F Dog Rescue. Where ever we go, he greets every one with a smile and a paw and then he rolls over and gives everyone belly! When we are at adoption events Sir Porter always stops people in their tracks. He is so handsome, so large, and so unique looking that everyone stops to meet him. We feel he is the perfect Ambassador for our beloved hounds & rescued dogs.
When he arrived on the transport from being saved from the high kill shelter in WV -- he slept for the first time in his life on a huge overstuffed doggy bed. I could tell he had never experienced anything that comfortable in his short life. He just smiled at me, sighed and closed his and slept.
The shelter people called him "lover boy!" and so do we! Porter comes from the Mercer County Humane Society, WV
The shelter says this about him: This is the sweetest fellow!! He has had his all his shots & has been neutered and he just loves everyone!
He deserves a wonderful family just like himself!! He was due to be put down but a good Samaritan paid to board him at a facility to buy him some time. That saved his life but hopefully he can get adopted -- so hurry before his time runs out again.
It was a GOOD day in rescue to get this sweet hound out alive.
PLEASE NOTE: A fence is always mandatory - no exceptions.
Be sure to read ALL our adoption policies prior to applying for a puppy/dog.
If you would like to fill out an application, you must first register on the website and await an e-mailed passcode.
Once you have this info, you will be able to access our application.
Our adoption donation is $200 which is (1/2) of what we've actually spent to properly vet & spay/neuter each of our dogs. Any donation above that would be greatly appreciated & tax deductible since we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit!

Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either Physical or Petstop Electric Fence. We do not accept any other brand
due to the high failure rate. The fence must be installed prior to us completing an adoption application.
If you need an electric fence contact the company Petstop @ http://www.petstop.com/
We abide by the Humane Association's recommendation. For ANY DOG adoption to have a relatively good chance of success, we believe a child should be 8 years old & up. We only adopt what we call our "BONA-FIDE Kid Lovers to families with children." Many dogs do not want to live with children. You should only adopt a dog who LOVES kids to be sure you are able to make a lifetime commitment to a dog.
We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily. This can be through a family member, neighbor, or Petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.
We have several Petsitting service companies that we can recommend:

More about Sir Porter-ADOPTED!
Good with Dogs, Good with Cats
Sponsors: Thanks to Jen Sentz & Risa Rizzo who sponsored this beautiful young boy he is alive. His time was up at the shelter so they paid to board him until a rescue would agree to take him -- which was us since we LOVE our hounds. That is the only reason he is alive.
