UPDATE: 12-07-06 -- I took my darling Trixie home today. She was met at our front with her wonderful 4 legged brother Tyson who is a very, very handsome boxer boy. He was thrilled, his rear end and stubby was wagging as much as hers. She bowed and gave him belly. She thought her new Dad was wonderful also! She has a most beautiful large home and huge yard. All the flags were up and since she had already been trained in foster care on the electric fence, she knew to stay away.

As predicted, it was difficult to say good-bye to that stunning creature who has been such a huge part of my life. I am content I did my job, I held out for the perfect home for her needs.
Wait until they hear her snore!! She snores like a man!!

UPDATE: Well, it only took 24 applications but we finally found Trixie's forever family. She is moving to Boothwyn with an electric fence as required --- she is getting a Mom, Dad and two of her own kids. Perfect for our beautiful Chocolate Bunny. My life will be empty without that beautiful face and eyes looking at me every day but this is my job to allow her to move on to start her own life --- which also makes room for us to save one more!

PLEASE NOTE: We have had (22) applications for this baby. You must read her complete bio below first and IF you have an installed type of fence she needs --- then apply. NO exceptions to what Trixie -- or any of our dogs need. The fence must be installed prior to processing an adoption application. We recommend Petstop for electric fences. www.petstop.com

UPDATE: Trixie is the color of a chocolate lab with the size and shape of a Weimaraner. At 9 months, she is already 50 lbs. but she still thinks she's a lap dog and will hug and cuddle at every opportunity.

She is everything a puppy should be- a leaping, wagging, kissing, smiling, joyful bundle of energy. She leaps after butterflies, skips through the field, and jumps into the creek to swim. She is eager to please but does seem to have an alpha temperment and will need consistent training and strong leadership as she grows to her adult size and strength.

Trixie is such a strikingly gorgeous beauty, but it's her sweet loving personality that is truly her best feature. I wish we had pictures of her playing ever so gently with our kitten-Delilah was only the size of one of Trixie's ears!

Because Trixie is going to be a big girl and already is an impressive jumper, a 6ft or invisible fence is required.

Trixie is the model for what a puppy is: she wags, wiggles, skips, and smiles, the whole time she's awake. She sometimes gallops towards us so clumsily, that she loses control and slides to a stop, legs flying in every direction. She loves chasing leaves, bugs, and birds, but plays gently with our kitten, who is about the size of one of her ears.

Instead of barking, she "talks" a lot, making quiet, cute little noises for conversation. And when she's tired, she curls up on the floor or couch with us. She is such an irresistable lovebug!

Trixie says "Don't hate me because I am beautiful!" She is as sweet and loving as she is in her beauty. She has already been trained on an electric fence -- but she would need a home with a 6 foot fence because she truly glides over gates. She is only a 9 month old pup now but when she becomes the big girl she is going to be --- she has already easily jumped over a 4 foot fence.

To many people do not realize how many dogs get away that way from jumping over 4 foot fences. They are fine for small, short dogs, but the average medium to large dog can and will jump a 4 foot fence if there is something interesting enough on the other side.
Some NEVER DO and NEVER WILL but we have to err on the side of caution with our rescue dogs. In most cases they have already been lost and captured by animal control.

We took Trixie down to the creek (with a leash of course!) and she is a GREAT swimmer! She just LOVES to cuddle!
Trixie just came to stay with us after her spaying, but it hardly slowed her down at all. She is gorgeous, and those enormous almond eyes show her intelligence. She learned the invisible fence in just days, and is learning to sit to get attention instead of jumping up, and that counters and tables are off-limits to puppies.

UPDATE from Trixie's foster Mom:
Trixie's beauty is evident, but it is her sweet personality that makes her so very special. When you make eye contact with this pup (she is coming up on 6 months old & is being spayed 07-06-06) her whole rear end swings from side to side --- thus why we call
them "wiggle butts." What makes her so special is she just has the most loving little heart.

She is also a "talker" and is contantly "talking" to me -- about what --- I don't know. She seems to hold conversations with me and all her foster brother and sisters. She also seems to smile while she is talking.

Our adoption policy is that we only adopt puppies to people who have had "personal puppy experience" and that really holds true for this pup. Trixie is highly active, and needs to learn her basic training (all dogs need that from their owners) and needs to be watched like a HAWK!! She is quite the "counter surfer" and always when I am not present. I am not calling her sneaky --- but I must say she never surfs when I am in the kitchen! I have too often found her with a pen, and this really frightened me, a STEAK KNIFE --- YIKES!! She needs someone who can be with her to guide her on how to be a good girl and to keep her from harming herself and your belongings.

She get's along with all the dogs and her other special talent is "de-collaring" them! Not all dogs are good at this, but Trixie has made it an art form!

I also have noticed alpha female tendencies with her. That simply means that she wants to be the top female in the pack --- so we can not place her in a home with another alpha female. She can live wonderfully with any male dog or a submissive female. She does love dogs but her favorite thing in the whole world are people!

Trixie is a stunning, chocolate bunny! We found her in sitting in the Georgetown SPCA.

We have had LOTS of dogs/pups since we started but this little puppy is right up there with the most beautiful pups any of us have ever seen. I call her my little chocolate bunny but she LITTLE! I would say she is going to be at least 70 pounds full grown.

Trixie is being spayed 07-06-06 - she is completely up to date with all shots and we are accepting applications on Trixie.

All L&F dogs/pups are crate & potty trained, temperament tested, have been chosen for sweet, gentle dispositions, and are living in foster homes with families. They each have had the following:

SPAYED/NEUTERED

Microchipped

Tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia

On HeartGuard & Frontline Plus (as long as they are with us)

Rabies, Distemper, Parvo vaccines.

Intra Trac ll Kennel Cough

Two De-Wormings

PLEASE NOTE: Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either physical or Electric Fence

If you need a fence for your dog, but are not permitted to have a physical fence, or chose not to, please visit our friends at Pet Stop. Mention that you saw them at our website and they have promised to send us a donation to help our rescue work.

We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily, whether it is through a family member, neighbor or petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.

We have several petsitting service companies that we can recommend:

www.homesweethomepetsit.org/ in PA & DE

www.delawarepooperscoopers.com in PA, NJ, & DE

http://www.tlcpetsitting.net/ in MD
