7/06/06 Keyes went home today witha wonderful retired teacher who hopes to teach him to be a therapy dog.

6/28/06 Although he's still an easy going puppy, there are hints that Keyes may be a alpha male when he matures around 1 1/2-2 years old. Therefore we would prefer to adopt him to a home without an alpha male (females or submissive males are OK) and older children or adults only.

6/11/06 Well, we took Keyes to our favorite kid-testing site (the picnic area at Woodside Farm Creamery) and he is GREAT with kids. He was surrounded by kids and dogs, petted, hugged, kissed, and picked up, and LOVED it. He licked everyone's faces, both kids and dogs, and although he stood up on them (to better kiss them), he was gentle doing it, with no jumping or nipping, like many puppies often do.

6/03/03 Little Mister Keyes is without a doubt one of the most beautiful dogs we have ever fostered. He is a sweet, very loving puppy, who kisses everyone, over and over, human and canine. He is so small and fluffy, he's like a living teddy bear, and loves to be cuddled. He does draw back sometimes when you reach for his collar, but does not fight being on a leash, and although submissive, he is not timid dog, just a normal, friendly, outgoing, playful puppy. He is housetrained already and we are working on basic commands and teaching him the invisible fence.

5-27-06 - Keyes just arrived on our transport from Virginia along with our new girls Maya (broken leg) and our sweet Victoria

He looks like a very short, very small
(only 23 pounds --- that is ALL hair!) red Golden Retriever. Very cute and very sweet. He has already been giving kisses to his new foster girls. He was already neutered and I just watched him squat to pee like a little girl. I find that just enchanting in a male dog!!

Keyes came to us as an owner surrender. A local family befriended him and worked hard to get him to trust them so that they could bring him to us to find him a home. Keyes is neutered, and has been heartworm tested and vaccinated. He is a bit shy still, and pulls away when people reach for his neck. It looks like his former owner must have dragged him around by his neck and he is afraid of that. Already he is doing better with us, he just needs to learn to trust us and he is.

However, he is great with being loved and petted and cuddled, and responds lovingly to such attention.

All L&F dogs/pups are crate & potty trained, temperament tested, have been chosen for sweet, gentle dispositions, and are living in foster homes with families. They each have had the following:

SPAYED/NEUTERED

Microchipped

Tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia

On HeartGuard & Frontline Plus (as long as they are with us)

Rabies, Distemper, Parvo vaccines.

Intra Trac ll Kennel Cough

Two De-Wormings

PLEASE NOTE: Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either physical or Electric Fence IF there are children in the home.

If you need a fence for your dog, but are not permitted to have a physical fence, or chose not to, please visit our friends at Pet Stop. Mention that you saw them at our website and they have promised to send us a donation to help our rescue work.

We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily, whether it is through a family member, neighbor or petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.

We have several petsitting service companies that we can recommend:

www.homesweethomepetsit.org/ in PA & DE

www.delawarepooperscoopers.com in PA, NJ, & DE

http://www.tlcpetsitting.net/ in MD
