UPDATE: 07-29-06 - A Message from his new family:
Dear Dana,
Just wanted to thank you for taking such good care of Kirby while he was
with you. He is doing very good for his first day here. He's been
playing outside and he has been actively playing with all his new
toys.
For the first few hours he kept going to the door and whining -- he missed you. I know it was hard for you to say good-bye but you are always welcome to visit him whenever you want.
Thanks again,
Linda
6/28/06 Tick Tock is such a wonderful companion. He's housebroken, doesn't chew, knows the invisible fence, will sit and come on command, and wants nothing more than to sit in someone's lap and be petted. He's calm and quiet, especially for a beagle, although he does have that hound howl occasionally when he is left alone or is very excited. Everyone who has met him has fallen in love with his sad brown eyes, and cuddly manner, besides his beautiful looks and soft coat and ears. And he is great with all other dogs and cats. Some family is going to be very lucky to get this little boy!
So, this is what we at L&F Dog Rescue are going to do for this tiny man. We will only adopt him into a home where there are "no children" - not that he is not good with kids - we just feel he NEEDS to be someone's 4 legged kid. He NEEDS to be someone's beloved baby
to make up for what has happened to him in his short life.
6/18/06 It's always wonderful when a timid dog starts relaxing and its always surprising how quickly it can happen. Tick Tock now is running around happily with a grin on his face and his tail high and wagging, playing with the other dogs and leaping joyfully into our laps. That's still his favorite place to be, as the picture below from the Mingle Sat. shows, but he is much more relaxed and social. He is going to be a GREAT lap dog!
6/15/06 TickTock has only been here two days and already follows me around devotedly. He is still very timid and usually has his tail between his legs, and looks so sad, except when he is sleeping with his head in my lap.
He is such a sweet gentle boy, very interested in being petted and cuddled (gently) by everyone. He gets along with the dogs and cats, but doesn't show much interest in them, and just wants to be with people.
T.T. arrived on our transport from Virginia 06-03-06 and is so much cuter then this picture. He is a little (19 pounds) lemon beagle. He is painfully thin, ribs showing but all he wants is to be held. He looks at me with such devotion. He does put his paws on your leg, which only come up to my knee but ever, ever, so gently. He is a darling, loving, small little lap dog -
only 19 pounds. He gets along with all the dogs but humans are his favorite. This little guy wants and deserves to be someone's baby.
He came with a collar that had a serial number on it. I would guess that means he was used for hunting and which is often the case --- he got lost from the pack and nearly starved to death alone out there.
He has been neutered and vetted and we are taking applications on him. He also pees like a little girl --- which I always love to see in a male dog!
Notes: Tick Tock was brought to the shelter by a good Samaritan, who found him wandering on the road. He is painfully thin - when you look at him from the front, his ears stick out further then his hind quarters! Tick Tock received his name for a reason - when he was examined at the shelter, we discovered that both ear flaps were completely covered with ticks! Many were also in his ear canals!! It was just awful, but little Tick Tock just sat patiently while they were all removed and his ears got a good cleaning! He went back to his run, took a few bites and fell asleep sitting up! Tick Tock is slowly gaining weight and trust in people. He is a very sweet boy and deserves a wonderful home where he will be adored and treated like a king!
