UPDATE: 2/23/08 -- I took my adorable blue tick coonhound pup home yesterday. When I pulled up there were "Welcome Home Collin" pictures on the garage door and inside the home. My eyes welled up knowing that my baby boy was a very lucky boy to have parents who would be so thrilled that he would soon begin his life anew with them!
They also loved him enough to have the
Petstop people install their system around their entire property for his happiness and safety. He will have lots of creatures to see and smell in his backyard but he won't be able to get climb out or dig out.
Collin came in and showed how sweet and affectionate he is but he also showed them how he needs to learn -- like all puppies and dogs -- his manners. He countered surfed, he jumped up on them, you know, all the things that a dog trainer will teach them how to teach him not to do. They are also more then willing to seek outside help with his puppy training. So, I left knowing he would grow up to be a big wonderful loving creature and would be adored for the rest of his life.
That is not the usual case for hounds coming in from WV so this was a very special day for me. It was a VERY good day in rescue to get a wonderful hound -- who I love- into his home in Wilmington DE.
UPDATE! My baby boy is going home to his new parents on Saturday. Last Saturday they came to meet all our dogs at the Mingle with the MUTTS event and he was the one that stole their heart. They already had the PETSTOP people come out and install his new fence so he is ready to begin his new life. To think that a few months ago he was scheduled to die due to an over - crowed shelter and now he is going home! This is a VERY VERY good day in rescue!
UPDATE: Had my little baby boy neutered yesterday. He pee-pees like a little girl and now that he is neutered he will probably always do so. I love that in a male dog.
Collin has more personality that a pup should legally be allowed to have. He is smart, he is loving and I have discovered that we will need to place him in a home with another dog. He always just picks a dog to lay his head on and cuddle with. He would be lonely as an only child.
He is so pretty, I mean handsome and a huge wiggle butt! Hoping to find his special family so that he can begin his life being an adored puppy.
This beautiful pup Collin (Scottish for puppy) is the dearest little creature. He was found alone on the side of the road where someone had dumped him. He was brought into our favorite shelter Wetzel in WV. Rosy sent his picture, said it was "URGENT" because hounds have no chance of survival down there since they are so common. We do NOT think our hounds are common -- we at L&F Dog Rescue find them to be soft, gentle, docile loving dogs who want nothing more then to please you.
You can see by his sweet face and extremely intelligent eyes that there is a very special pup here. He is so cute that you can't stop smiling at that little face & his very long ears! He wants to be held and snuggled and to run and play and play! I gave him his first (I'm sure) plastic water bottle --- we could put all the doggie toy people out of business with those bottles -- but he stumped on it and threw it in the air. So cute!!
He has had his first series of shots & is microchipped. We are looking for the perfect home for our perfect pup.
When he arrived I was going to paper train him in his crate but he promptly shredded the paper so I saw that was futile. So, he sleeps in his crate, he is in his crate when I'm not home and he always lets me know when he has to potty. He has never pottied in his crate and he runs to the door like a big boy! Like I said, very smart puppy!

Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either Physical or Electric Fence. The fence must be installed/or firm commitment prior to us processing an adoption application. Mention that you saw them at our website. http://www.petstop.com/
We abide by the Humane Association's recommendation. For ANY DOG adoption to have a relatively good chance of success, we believe a child should be 8 years old & up. We only adopt what we call our "BONA-FIDE Kid Lovers to families with children." Many dogs do not want to live with children. You should only adopt a dog who LOVES kids to be sure you are able to make a lifetime commitment to a dog.
We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily. This can be through a family member, neighbor, or Petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.
