After being overlooked for several years, I'm all teary because finally Mochie met her new family & has gone home to be their beloved baby girl. She is 439th adoption & we're so happy for her.
Mocha has video & a photo of her puppies when they arrived from North Carolina
Mocha is what we call a Constant Companion: If you are looking for an emotionally secure, mutually satisfying, low maintenance relationship, she is all you need. She just wants to sit at your feet, walk by your side & she'll be your devoted companion forever. Mochie is one of those kind of dogs that is constantly wagging or thumping her tail. You can walk by her 100 times a day & she'll look you & thump her tail. She would be great dog for an older couple & even a first time pet owner. She is just so sweet, calm & easy going. she is an Angel!
I know she'll make a wonderful affectionate companion to anyone who pays attention to her. She gets all wiggly when she sees me and she does this thing I call the "Mochie Dance" which is SO CUTE & makes me laugh every time she does it! She spins & twirls in circles & you can just see her joy at having a safe place to live. Now she is ready to find her very own family to spend the rest of her life with. Could that be you?
She was a stray living outside all alone on the streets of North Carolina. She had litter of pups that she was trying to take care of. She had to go out forging for food and while she was out there -- she was captured by an animal control officer. By time they got her back to the shelter they realized she was dripping milk & surmised now her babies would die without her - which of course is true.
The day Mocha was captured, another family brought in (4) puppies without their Mother. They were so young they were not weaned yet. The shelter staff had an idea. Mocha has plenty of milk and that's what they needed -- so they cautiously put the pups in with Mocha. She instantly started letting them eat & she then began *raising* her new puppies. (her pups pictures are below) We have her two baby girls here Latte' & Lyric who are also up for adoption.
THEN a tornado hit North Carolina in the same area as the shelter. Whenever there is a natural disaster shelters routinely euthanize all of the animals, who are considered unwanted anyway -- to make room for the "pets" that will displaced so their families can find them. This goes on all across the country. What rescues try to do is save as many as we can of those who are about to die to make room for more.
Mocha & her pups were on the "euth list" so we did our part in this crisis & said we would take her & the babies. When they arrived to our rescue on transport she was very upset & extremely afraid of everything. Can you blame her after what she had been thru? I gave her a safe place to raise her babies away from all their dogs here & she became more relaxed day by day & the pups thrived.
She is a lover & truly one of my favorite girls. She has beautiful copper colored eyes and her coat is short & shiny. She was such a mess when she arrived but now she is very pretty!
