About Piper--ADOPTED | |

|
Well, a very special family saw our Piper and knew right away that she was the girl to make their home complete. Piper is going to have a mom, a dad, and a Westie sister to keep her company forever and ever. She will be the sunshine of thier lives just like she was meant to be!
Please excuse the picture, this is when she was in the shelter. We will have new ones soon and she will be at our Mingle so you can see how cute she really is in person. We had her spayed

UPDATE from Piper's Foster Mom:
She is so trusting and gentle. I was a little sad leaving her there. About her personality, She has such a sweet and gentle spirit. She is always glad to see you and follows me everywhere. She comes when you call her name, and when she starts chewing on something she is not supposed to, I say no! and she stops immediately. SHE LOVES TOYS! She drags them all out and plays with herself. sort of rolling around and chewing at the same time. She doesn't know how to play tug 'o' war with the other dogs yet, but she will learn.
She is getting to know "bathroom" and goes pee outside when we tell her. She has gone to squat and we said no! and took her outside. She finished and she got a treat and lots of fanfare, which I think she likes better than a treat. Poo outside is taking a little longer, but she is slowly getting it.
Piper does not like to be in the crate by herself. The first night she cried and barked. My husband finally went downstairs and slept on the couch and she settled down on the floor next to him the rest of the night. Last night we moved the crate next to our bed and she did not make a peep! She was just happy to get to be with her foster family.
With my two dogs, she is playful and respectful. My "diva" pug let her know not to go near her bone. She gently acquiesced and there was no argument. She like to run with my JRT, but when he starts his terrier play growl, she gets a little scared and rolls on her back or runs to me. She is definitely a submissive little girl.
She has seen my cat several times and doesn't seem to be interested to much. My cat hissed at her once and she backed away. That was it for her.
She is a great dog for older kids who appreciate her gentle playfulness and older folks who need a loving companion. I have not heard her bark when people come, even though my dogs are barking their heads off. She just wags her tail and greets with kisses. She is a snuggler and needs lots of love and attention.
I'm glad I can help in any way, and I just want to let you know that I didn't "choose " your rescue but chose you and Lisa to work with. I think we all think the same and have share the same love and sense of humor when it comes to dogs. Thanks for giving me a chance to help and letting me in your circle.
Talk to you soon,
Yolanda
P.S. After observing piper, I think she her breed is of a herding type. A cattle dog, collie, sheltie mix. She holds her head like a border collie when she runs and likes to run next to my dogs as if to "herd" them together. Very interesting. Let me know what you think.
This is our sweet Piper. She is a lovebug that wants nothing more than to lay contentedly across your lap while she gazes up to you in admiration. Piper is as friendly of a girl as I have come across, even though she hasn't had the best of beginnings. She came to us from a shelter in West Virginia and obviously had not experienced the comforts of living in a loving home. She has a gentle nature, but loves to play with her toys and with her foster brother, Winston (a very active Jack Russell). This girl really has the whole "perfect dog" thing locked up, as long as you are truly looking for a pup that will love you beyond measure!
We are merely guessing at her breed mix, because we honestly cannot be certain. She has a very pretty brindle coat that is as soft as bunny fur and the body of a rather long-torsoed beagle. At approximately 10 months old, she weighs a mere 23 pounds, so she is quite small.
While Piper thoroughly adored my 6 year old son, we would like to see her in a family that does not have children younger than 10. Young children can sometimes be too unpredictable for such a gentle creature and we would not want her to have to worry. She is a sensitive girl and deserves to feel secure for the rest of her life.
