UPDATE: Lil' Onyx went home to live in Mt Laurel NJ today. He has a new Mommy, a big 2 legged sister and an adorable little 4 legged sister name Grace who was so kind to him. She wasn't too thrilled with him at first but when they went to play in her big wonderful back yard she found she had someone who would chase her and chase her and chase her. It was just so cute to see them together. Then she shared her chewies, her sofa and even her Mom. What a doll baby she is! We are so very happy for our little man who spent the months of his life in a hamster cage! This was a very good day in rescue!

Update: Lil' Onyx is now all vetted, microchipped, and neutered. He also was in such bad shape we had to have him shaved. He already looks cuter then the little rag mop that he looked like before.
He is a sweet little guy who deserves to have a family who will treat him like the adorable pup he is rather then sitting in a hamster cage his whole life. I'm truly surprised how loving he is -- but that is what makes dogs so special. They love and want to be with us even when people have not been kind to them.
UPDATE: Lil' Onyx is doing really well. He lets me know when he has to potty in his crate. When I lift him out I get kisses. He just puts his little body next to mind for comfort. When I put his leash on now in only 24 hours --- he runs to the front door!! He also spent had a weekend playdate with a volunteer and NO accidents. He wants to please!
Poor Little Onyx is a VICTIM of a puppy mill. Someone I know called yesterday to tell me that if I did not take the approximately 9 month old Yorkie/Poo pup that he bought from a puppy mill for $400 in November - he was going to kill him.
Why you may ask would someone say that and sound like they meant it? Well, it seems the puppy who had no fenced in yard had to be walked to potty. When that proved to be too much trouble they just left him in a cage in his own filth. The few times he was allowed out of his cage --- it was actually a hamster cage not a dog crate --- he would run around and pee on the carpet. He also managed to chew a hole in the foyer floor. So, we have an un-housebroken puppy who chews things. Wow, no wonder he wanted to kill him!
As you can see, he has never been groomed, never seen a vet and is not neutered. That will all be taken care of my L&F Dog Rescue next week. As soon as he get's a "new doo" and looks like the cute little puppy he really is, I will add the new pictures.
He is so starved for attention that he just crawls into your lap and will give kisses. He will take extra work since no one has ever given him the time he needs to learn to potty outside --- that will not be a big issue. He just needs someone to help him learn what is expected.

Tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia
On Interceptor (Heartworm medication) & Frontline Plus (for the duration of their stay with us) - Plus they go with a one month supply of each

Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either Physical or Electric Fence. The fence must be installed/or firm commitment prior to us processing an adoption application. If you need a fence for your dog, but are not permitted to have a physical fence, or chose not to, please visit our friends at Pet Stop. We abide by the Humane Association's recommendation. For ANY DOG adoption to have a relatively good chance of success, we believe a child should be 8 years old & up. We only adopt what we call our "BONA-FIDE Kid Lovers to families with children." Many dogs do not want to live with children. You should only adopt a dog who LOVES kids to be sure you are able to make a lifetime commitment to a dog.
We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily. This can be through a family member, neighbor, or Petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.
