UPDATE: Pretty Blaze went home with her new family to start her new life. She only met her new Mom once and she was so happy to see her again today. Blaze has a Mom, Dad and a 2 legged Big Brother. We know she is going to be very happy.
We have enclosed pictures of Blaze & her sister Bunny to show you the babies they were a year ago.
PLEASE NOTE: This small beauty (32 pounds) was adopted from our rescue 1 year ago as a puppy along with her sister. Her coat is as soft as a rabbit and she is so very, very pretty!
As it turns out, both girls turned out to be ALPHA females and ALPHA dogs of the SAME sex can not live together without fighting to be the top dog. Since Blaze is only 32 pounds and her sister turned out to be 75 pounds -- different Dad's -- poor Blaze has not been able to keep up with her sister. Her family decided for her sake, it was best to separate them.
Blaze does get along with dogs her size but she does get upset with larger dogs. She is doing better -- but it would be best to place her in a home with a dog her size who must be submissive. She is extremely submissive with humans and LOVES LOVES LOVES kids, but she needs to live with a dog who will not boss her around anymore.
This is what her family has to say about her:
Blaze is a wonderful dog who has a sweet, loveable personality. Unfortunately, I had her sister and both weren't happy in the same house
since both girls turned out to be alpha females.
Blaze loves to take walks daily. We walked 1 mile up to 1 1/2 miles. During cool months, she needs a coats because she gets cold easy but trust me she lays down for the coat to be put on her. She enjoys sniffing around while walking plus when you stop she sits down. She has been kennel trained since her adoption and loves her blankets to cuddle with. I have boarded her at Windcrest Vet Hospital and she likes the people there plus isn't afraid to be groomed there. She loves Kongs filled with cheerios, kibble and peanut butter. She also enjoys pushing the dog treat cubes around -- this keeps her busy for awhile! Throwing a ball up and down steps keeps her busy on rainy days. Basically, she is the best pet anyone could get. I know that anyone who gets her will fall in love with her as much as we did. Her favorite activities is having her belly rubbed or a canine message (she'll fall asleep in your lap).
Okay I know that this isn't probably a good dog treat but when we would go to the beach she loved the tall twisted lollipops she will lick it while you hold it. (that's the only non-dog food she has even eaten)
She has many skills:
1) she rings a bell to go outside
2) she knows the following commands: "stay", "sit", "come", "lay down", "get down" and her release command is "okay"
3) tell her to stay before opening a door (she waits) until you say "okay"
4) she recognizes the words upstairs, downstairs, out of kitchen mommy is cooking (while pointing), go to your house (meaning kennel) & toy
5) we had been working on "shake" sometimes she gets it --- sometimes not
6) sitting in front of a person means she wants to be petted, we taught that so she won't jump up
7) tapping her on her side 3xs then stating "done" gets her to stop bugging for attention
She has been eating Science Diet for Large Puppy (3 cups daily) since 6 weeks old plus puppy Iams dog biscuits (broken in half).
She CAN'T have anything with cheese she vomits. She has maintained her 32.5 lbs for several months. She has all her shots plus a lyme disease shot because of the trees in my backyard & our walks.
Another important thing she likes the rain sometimes its tough to get her inside when it rains or snows.
I would really like to keep in touch with the new owners of Blaze. Please feel free to give my email address to her new mommy. Thanks again for getting her another loveable home, she's a gem! Attached is a picture from the birthday party we had for them, and couple with her sister.

Please Note:
We do not adopt our puppies to people who work full-time. Part-time is OK. We do not believe in leaving infants in crates all day.
We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily. This can be through a family member, neighbor, or Petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.
We have several Petsitting service companies that we can recommend:
L&F Doggy Playdates – Your home (New Castle County Only) or at our location in New Castle, DE. Call: 302-613-0394 –more info at: www.lostandfounddogrescue.org
