UPDATE: I had left Ben's story at our vet Brandywine Vet Hospital and luckily for Ben, a very special woman came in, read the story, contacted us, and has agreed to let this 12 year old come and live his life out in her home --- site unseen! We could not be happier! It was a VERY GOOD DAY in rescue!
We actually had two families interested in taking him. The other has decided to foster for our rescue group!!
URGENT!!! If someone, anyone, can make room for this poor old boy, we would be happy to transport him from the Georgetown DE SPCA to wherever. We would really love to see this boy get out of there alive -- so he can spend his remaining time with someone.
I adopted a 11-year old dog and she lived another two years with me. I was always happy that I was in the position to give Trick my love in her final years and she died in my arms --- after she had her butterscotch krimpets.
Notes: This is a heart breaker. Ben is a 12 year old male whose owner's couldn't keep him any longer. This poor boy ends up in a shelter alone when he should be spending his final years in a home surrounded by the folks he loves. Ben is house trained. He is heartworm negative. He appears to be a healthy dog for his age. He is a very friendly dog who loves people and going for walks.
