UPDATE from Mikey's foster Mom:
Mikey is a really GOOD dog! He only made one mistake in the house with his housebreaking and that was his first day, not since! He does very well with all the other dogs here. He is semi-interested in the cats but not enough to make them uncomfortable.
He is really desperate to please and since he is so young, only about 1 year old, we know he can be easily trained. I can leave him for short periods with no issues. He is very content to be where you want him to be. If you put him outside, that is fine with him, he will sit quietly until you let him back in.
He is a very special boy and with a little work and consistent training
we can say he is going to be a magnificent companion. He is semi-active
but not a spaz, not too mellow, just the perfect combination.
He LOVES LOVES LOVES to fetch anything you want to throw for him but he doesn't wear you out. Mikey doesn't love his crate but he goes in when told to "kennel" (all L&F dogs are crated trained) and while he did some grunting and groaning at first when it was bedtime in his crate, he settled down quickly with a little encouragement.
PLEASE NOTE: We always make crate training a pleasant experience so that they can transition into their new homes accustomed to being crated. NOT that we want them sitting in crates all day -- just until they earn the right to have "house privileges" which means they are free to roam.
Overall, I am totally in love with this beautiful dog. He is not only
beautiful on the outside but inside as well. He is an absolute sweetheart.

Mikey is out of the shelter! Now he just needs a wonderful, loving home to call his own.
Mikey is a handsome, friendly fellow. He is an interesting mix. He has the face, ears and soft coat of a Golden Retriever. His blue eyes and some of his coloring look like he may have an Aussie Shepherd in his ancestry. He is a striking looking dog and has a great personality to go with those looks.
Mikey looks like his right eye is actually part blue and part brown. This boy is unique and very special. He is a real lover who seems to be good with the kids who have visited him at the shelter.
Mikey was found as a stray on 7/29. He is thought to be about year old. He is a very nice dog who is going to be a wonderful addition to some lucky family!

All L&F dogs/pups are crate & potty trained, temperament tested, have been chosen for sweet & gentle dispositions, have lived in foster homes with families, and have had the following:
SPAYED/NEUTERED
Microchipping
Tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia
On HeartGuard & Frontline Plus
Rabies, Distemper, Parvo vaccines.
Intra Trac ll Kennel Cough
Two De-Worming
PLEASE NOTE: We do not place puppies in homes where they will be left alone all day. Part-time is ok. Puppies, like babies, need lots of attention, socialization and cuddles. We do not feel that it is humane to leave them in a crate for 8-10 hours at a time. .
If you are applying for an adult dog, we do expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily, whether it is through a family member, neighbor or petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.
