UPDATE from Casey Beau on his birthday!

Hi Aunt Marleen
Today is my birthday - one year ago I met my Mom and Dad. They love me so much and take great care of me. We are in Avalon now but come home to Kennett Square every 2 weeks.

I had salmon for dinner, a cupcake and ice cream for desert. Also played tennis ball in the park today.

I will never forget what you did for me. Thank you so much!!!!. I hope you are well and please come see me whenever you can.

Well, take care and see you soon.

Love you,

Woof woof.

Casey Beau

UPDATE: Here are the latest pictures of Casey. He loves to play tennis ball in his new yard. A friend gave him dog treats from the shore - pizza, ice cream and soft pretzel.

Happy 4th to all.

Love Hank, Sue and Casey UPDATE: Marleen Hope all is well with you. Here are my first shots of Casey. We love him so much. Hank

UPDATE: Hi Marleen Casey is very happy. He is sleeping on our king size bed (slept with us last night) and likes playing tennis ball and going for walks. He also likes to lie under the dining room table.

He just poked his head under my arms as I am typing. He must be trying to say hello to you.

He has adjusted very well. We have left him alone several times for 1.5 to 2 hours and he has been very good. He wags his whole body when we return. He really acts likes he has been with us forever. People can't believe we have had him for less than a week.

He curls up like a cat sometimes when he sleeps. He is starting to act like he owns the place as he barks at other dogs who are walking by.

Sue says hello and she is giving him kisses every day. Julia loves the boy and pets him all the time.

Thanks for checking in and hope all is going well with you. Take care and talk to you soon. Hank P.S. - I bought a digital camera online and should be getting it middle of week. I will try to send you some pictures.

Update from Casey Beau: Hi Aunt Marlene It was so fun seeing you again today. I was wagging all over. Hope you like the flowers and will think of me when you see it.

I was really good in the car even though it was my longest ride (2 hours). I like the shore. I went to two parks already and did lots of exploring. I played tennis ball with Dad in this big basketball court (fence was 8 ft tall). I had lots of fun.

Saw my first sunset on the deck. Met two of the neighbors. Boy these people have lots of friends.

Dad says you can come see whenever you are in Kennett Square and you are welcome to come to the Shore.

You saved me and I love you for that. But I also love you for finding me this great mom and dad. I feel so at home with them. They love me and are petting me all the time.

Say hello to my friends and thanks again for all that you do. Love Casey Beau Fisher

UPDATE from Beau's foster Mom. Great News! My beautiful Beau has found a wonderful new home. He has a new Mommy & Daddy, and a new human twin sister & brother and an older brother.

We wanted to be sure to make a TERRIFIC match all the around, and we have. Beau will be spending his summers at the shore and wintering near Longwood Gardens. Yes, a very happy, happy beginning for this special spirit. I will miss him terribly .... but I know I did my job. I promised Beau at the shelter that I would find him a great family that would love him forever, and I did that and some!

UPDATE from Beau's foster Mom: Now that we are spending more time looking at Beau we think he is a Black Lab/Malamute mix who is 1 1/2 years old and weighs 81 pounds. He is the most beautiful, regal, sweet, affectionate boy that we have ever had. He has the most luxurious, silky coat. It's almost as if a boy shouldn't be this pretty! When you are out walking with Beau (and he walks beautifully on his leash) you may want to allow extra time ... since everyone is going to stop you and want to pet and admire him. He handles all the attention he receives with a quiet dignity. All of our dogs have been wonderful but he is truly the most striking looking young man so far. I adore his personality.

At home, he is a goofy boy who rubs his face and nose along the carpet with his rear end up in the air. He slides his body all over the carpeting across the room with pure joy. It's obvious that he's thrilled to be out of the shelter & from being boarded.

Beau really shows his gratitude for being saved. It does seem to me that he realizes what a close call he had. I always feel that way when I look at our "shelter kids" and know how close to death they all came through no fault of their own.

He has two blue eyes and they are gorgeous and so is his HUGE SPIRIT! Beau is very much a "people dog" and he looks into your eyes all the time. He really wants to make a connection. I can see that he will be dedicated and loyal. He is the type of dog that would give his LIFE for you. Beau is indeed a magnificent young man and we want him to be adopted by someone who has the ability to recognizes his special spirit.

He just wants to be hugged and is SO happy to just be near you. If you don't pet him enough, he puts his nose under your hand. He was in the shelter for a month and has been boarded for almost another month yet he is still steady and calm.

He wants to know when he can have someone who will give him all the love he deserves for the rest of his life.

Beau is doing well with the cats at his foster Mom's ... they are interesting but nothing to be overly concerned about. He is playing with his foster sister Blu and is even gentle with the puppy Andy who is NOT gentle with him. He loves his toys and picks them up to show you by spinning around with them.

He is of course neutered, up to date with this shots, micro-chipped, and on his Heartguard and Frontline Plus and housebroken.

Beau is afraid of lightening and thunder. Well, geez, who isn't a little afraid? Beau is calm, quiet, well mannered, and housebroken. He walks well on the leash and is responding to training. He knows sit, down, stay and heel commands. He enjoys getting a bath and being brushed. He rides very well in the car. He's also a good companion. He enjoys long walks, tennis balls, and attention from the family. And he looks so handsome in his collar! You can tell he likes wearing it.

We've had Beau evaluated by a dog trainer and this is what Vince has to say about our beautiful boy!

Beau is a very special dog. He is affectionate, but not exuberantly so. He won't knock you over with his wild energy, he's confident and calm. He appears to be well acclimated to other dogs, cats and even a rooster--curious but not in any way aggressive. In the setting we were in he didn't demonstrate a strong prey instinct, but that's difficult to assess.

Like I said, he is a confident dog, and responded well to leash training, clearly would respond to a structured lifestyle. He is a dominant dog and does not easily become submissive. When I worked with him, I was never felt afraid of him.

I think he would respond beautifully to a confident dog handler, and given his cool, calm demeanor and his affectionate but mellow way in an unfamiliar area (the kennel) I think he really would be a great companion for someone who appreciates an independent dog.

He is clearly going to need to be told the rules, and they will need to be consistently, even-handedly, but firmly enforced. I personally love dogs like this, I really appreciate their composure and that you have to earn their respect. He is a great find for the right person. People will continually comment about how handsome and composed he is. If you like northern breeds, you'll like Beau.

I can also tell you for sure --- that this guy had a family. He is so calm and steady that I'm sure Beau had a good life ... right up until he became a LOST and could not find his family again. They must have loved him very much because he is in perfect health.

Beau went to see our vet Dr. Gray and he was (as I expected) a PERFECT gentleman in the car. He is SO mellow. He was the hit of Dr. Gray's office because he was the prettiest (handsome, sorry Beau) guy there! He is such a people dog that he leans into you for comfort.

He had been locked up in the shelter since 3-29-04 so he is one happy, happy boy.

If you think Beau might be the boy for you, please e-mail for an online adoption application.
