Dexter has been evaluated for the MYM Program & we have determined he is a : Constant Companion:  Looking for an emotionally secure, mutually satisfying, low maintenance relationship? I am all you need. Let me sit at your feet, walk by your side, and I’ll be your devoted companion forever. He would do well with a First Pet Parent.

Dexter would be fine to be adopted by someone who has not had a dog in a long time or not had a dog since they were kids. He's easy-going, calm BUT he does love to chase squirrels and cats so he would need a firm hand on the leash when walking. He LOVES to walk & his foster home had gotten him up to walking 4 miles a day at a brisk pace.

Dexter 100 lb purebred Plott Hound. He is just a sweet, goofy boy who loves people, dogs, BUT NO KITTIES & his toys!  He is a "toy-a-holic" and just adores his toys. Toys are his life! He needs a home where he will be able to go for a walk daily and burn off some of that baby fat!  He's very sweet, affectionate, he has a gentle heart & spirit.  His favorite place is on my sofa with or without humans to join him. He puts his head on a pillow and just snoozes away.

I'm not supposed to have favorites here but I do -- just like any parent I try not to let them know. This handsome young man is my Dexter (nick-name Baby Huey) & he is truly my best best best boy !

He is on thyroid medication & will be for the rest of his life. The medication is very inexpenisve ...  but he does need blood work every six months to be sure his dose is correct.

There is picture below that shows the real Baby Huey (Dexter) as I see him daily. He always has a toy in his mouth, he would have 4 toys in his mouth if he could make them fit! We feel it's best then he is adopted into a family with another dog who does not care about toys one way or the other. He loves the company of his buddies, & he loves playing (as you can see by his video) but he prefers to keep his toys close to himself.
He is a breed called Plott Hound. What is a Plott Hound? After I rescued Dexter, I was so interested in getting information about this "made in America" breed. I found that the Plott hound is not only still used to hunt big game like bear and boar, but what a great family dog they made. Very interesting history. He is all black except for his face which is an unique marble looking marking and his socks are the same color. A very striking young man indeed! He is a sweet and gentle creature.
He is definitely a bright presence in our lives. He loves all the dogs and everyone he meets, he is so much more handsome in person. Has lots of love to give and is looking for that special family who would give him all the love he deserves. He is an easy going and very happy boy!

He has earned the highest honors in my home. My husband Jerry who is less then delighted with the amount of dogs who live in our home just think's Huey is the best boy! He follows Jerry around from room to room, even into the bathroom, but he isn't annoying he just likes "relaxing" with people. He comes and sits down next to you for a pat and a rub, then he settles in to watch TV with us. He is a dear, dear dog who deserves to find his family so he can give all that love to them.
Observations of the dog walker: Dexter is a delight. He enjoys walking and will run for a while if I let him. Laid back, friendly, gentle. A GEM
