ADOPTED! I'm thrilled to share that my beloved Little Man has been adopted. His new parents are a retired couple residing right here in Delaware. My utmost priority was to find him a home with retired -- yet active parents -- who could offer him abundant time and affection and fulfill his greatest desires—companionship and a warm lap to rest on. They also have this fabulous Four Season Room where he can sit & look out all the windows at his lovely, huge backyard with lots of wildlife who visit daily. He has lots of interests—enjoying the company of people, lounging on laps, playing with toys, gazing out of windows, and occasionally expressing his opinions about those pesky birds and squirrels. This home with new loving parents & the perfect view of the world will sure to be a slice of paradise for him! He is LNF's #577th adoption since 2-24-2004.

Update: Wonderful news!!! I had a complete blood panel & tested for Heartworm/Lyme, and thankfully, my Thor/Little Man came back proving he is perfectly healthy (I would not have put him up for adoption if that were not the case) & negative for Lyme or any other tick-borne diseases. He has an appointment to have his teeth cleaned on March 18th & after that, I'll have him professionally groomed by our dear friend Beth Penza at her Fluff Pet Salon and Boutique. After all that is done, he will be available for adoption, and whoever is lucky enough to adopt this little guy will be SO happy that he came into your life! He is precious, and his former sweet, gentle, funny, quirky personality shines through. He adores all his toys & has quite a collection now.

Thor is a 10-year-old, very small Yorkie that has returned to LNF Dog Rescue after 6 years but with your assistance, I am dedicated to finding him a new loving parent & home. His previous family welcomed two babies in quick succession, and Thor, who was once the center of attention, found the adjustment challenging. Despite being reliably house-trained for years, the introduction of the babies—now small children, with the youngest being only 3 years old—has led to some setbacks. I am committed to patiently retraining him to resume his house manners & ensure he only does his business outdoors.

Thor is an incredibly sweet, gentle, and affectionate dog who enjoys giving soft butterfly kisses on the nose and remains lively. However, he is also quite needy, craving constant human interaction and a warm lap to curl up on & hopefully a window that he can spend his day enjoying the view!

We believe Thor would be an ideal companion for a retired yet  active senior citizen who is a homeowner, has a safe fenced-in yard & is seeking a small, loving pet. If you or someone you know fits this description, please consider giving Thor the stable, loving home he deserves.

LNF Dog Rescue is located in New Castle, DE, but we adopt in NJ, PA, MD & DE.

Thor/Lucky Boy (Little Man) came into the rescue in a horrific condition. There is a photo below that shows what he looked like.  Yet, even with the neglect he experienced he just LOVES people and other dogs. He’s very affectionate & generous with his kisses. He about 10 years old and only 12 lbs. If you love happy go-lucky little busy bees --- Lucky (Little Man) is the boy for you. He's smart, very smart & just a joyful very energetic little guy. He has a few little quirks like sticks – every day he runs outside on a mission to find & chew on sticks – tree branches. Next he always jump up on a crate because he likes to sit up high & look out the window & bark at squirrels.

If you are looking for a little dog to sit on your lap & keep you company --- he's the boy for you.  We don't feel Lucky would be good young children, he wouldn't hurt them he just has shown no interest in them at all. He is more interested in adults and other dogs BUT NO KITTIES. He’s met several dogs his size & they were not interested in his constant play mode

He has a long life ahead of him, and for that reason we want him to be adopted by someone who has a very active lifestyle that includes daily walks for themselves & him.

Lucky Boy came to us in appalling condition, it’s very sad knowing how some people treat animals. He was just one huge mat. He smelled to high heaven from urine that permeated his whole body. I believe Lucky was forced to "exist" in a crate his whole life. He was in pain because when the mats get that tight like knots - they really hurt & pull at their skin. He was depressed & just didn't know what to do, he had no idea how to be a young playful dog.

I took him to my Vet immediately & she said his mats came off in 3 long pieces. She neutered him, cleaned his teeth, his teeth were filthy - now they are perfect, gave him all his shots, checked for Heartworm & Lyme as we always do - negative & had him microchipped.

For the first week he made no effort to engage with us or any of the other dogs. Toward the end of the week he started looking for us & making eye contact. I think he just needed to know we were there for him & were not going to lock him up in a cage.

I was shocked at how well he did with his housetraining. For a dog who was forced it exist in a crate in his waste I knew he wasn't housebroken. He learned very fast & Lucky goes to the door to potty. He's in & out all day with the big DOGS! He is always with us - kitchen, living room & I trust him to not pee in the house.  He also does return to his crate without any issue b/c I leave the door open which allows him to come & go as pleases. Recently he has taken to sleeping on top of one of the big crates which is fine with me - he's a good little boy.

At the end of the 2nd week he tip-toed in the living room & went to my husband's chair & looked up at him. Of course Jerry picked him & put him on his lap. Again, I don't want anyone to get the idea he is a lap dog, he is not. He is willing to stop by & say “Hi” but he just too energetic to sit around.  He doesn't settle down until he totally wears himself out playing, running, jumping from sofa & chair, spinning, throwing his toys in the air & back again.

He had no idea what toys were or bones or rawhides - he knew nothing. By the end of the 2nd week I threw a stuffed animal to him & he got it! He ran over & shook it really hard as if to kill it! Yorkie's are terriers & he was enjoying killing that stuffed toy when the week before he didn't even know what to do with it!! Also - if you need a "guard dog" again he would excellent. Whenever he hears anything he barks to let everyone know -- he is on duty! Sometimes a barking dog is just enough to make a thief keep going - even if they are as small as Lucky Boy!

He has met a few small dogs like himself & they did not like him. They just did not enjoy as playfulness. On the other hand he adores being with two of our girls Molli & Gretchen who are over 50 lbs. each. Those girls enjoy tussingly with him.

Be sure to read our adoption requirements before applying. If you can meet or exceed them you can apply online at this website. An installed minimum 4 foot high is required, a fence is always mandatory. There are no exceptions. We do not accept any time of electric fence & again there are no exceptions. If you do not have a fence installed, if you have an electric fence – you will be denied.
