Are you a "purple," an "orange," or a "green"? Come "meet your match" and find out what color suits you best!

Did you know that every year, between 8 million to 12 million companion animals enter animal welfare agencies across the nation? The most common reasons owners relinquish pets are behavior-related.
We at L&F Dog Rescue No-Kill Adoption Center are implementing a new program to increase the likelihood that our adopted dogs will become accepted and welcomed members of their new families for the rest of their lives.

We at L&F Dog Rescue are excited to implement the Meet Your Match® Canine-alityTM Adoption Program!
The unique program, which is owned and distributed by the ASPCA®, uses a science-based, color-coded system to bring you together with compatible pets, increasing the potential for a successful, life-long placement with you and your family.

By using the color-coded system, Meet Your MatchTM, helps you find the perfect pet by matching you and what you would like to get out of pet ownership with the dog's personality and behavior.
By matching the "canine-ality" of one of our adoptable pets with what you are looking for in dog or puppy, we increase potential for success and permanent placement as your new dog or puppy joins your family.

How is an individual dog's canine-ality determined?

There are two parts of the Meet Your MatchTM Canine-ality Adoption Program.

The first step is for L&F Dog Rescue performs the Canine-ality Assessment.

A dog's score from the Canine-ality Assessment places the dog in one of three color-coded categories (purple, orange, or green) representing the dog's level of persistence in pursuing something that he or she wants.

Each color category includes three Canine-ality descriptions that tell adopters how individual dogs are motivated. The evaluator chooses the Canine-ality that best fits the dog based on the animal's score and on the evaluator's determination of the dog's source of motivation internal, external, or social (i.e. human attention) while conducting the assessment.

Click on the canine-alities to the above to learn more about each one.

The second step of the program is for you to fill out the Dog Adopter Survey. The survey helps us match up the canine-ality you are looking for in a new pet with your new dog!

***Important Note: You must MEET or EXCEED our Adoption Policies before you can adopt a dog, Please read our adoption policies BEFORE you click here to fill out the Dog Adopter Survey.

The results of the survey will match you with dogs from one of three categories: easy, average, or high maintenance.

about meet your matchTM

In 2001, the Kansas Humane Society expressed a desire for Meet Your MatchTM, and Dr. Emily Weiss, Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist, was already working on the science behind the tool. The Canine-ality Assessment does not necessary predict what the dog is to become, but instead what the dog is like now and for the weeks ahead.
The goal is to create the bond. Once the bond is established, very little can break it.
